A good situation for some good laughs.

TROPIC THUNDER: With an abundance of acting talent we find ourselves watching a parody of recent war movies. To get a realistic performance from his crew to create a quality war film, the now venturesome director into the middle of nowhere, leaving them to fend for themselves. His plan is to frightnen them so they will produce a work of genius, that will be recorded on hidden cameras. Incredibly, because the director steps on an old land mine and dies, the spoiled actors are on their own, and they think there acting, when things start to get very real. Stars include Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise.

ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: The bills are piling up and Zack and Miri, life long platonic friends who live together, are desperate to make some money. What’s their solution? That’s obvious, start making pornos. As you might expect this sets the stage for a fun movie.

STEP BROTHERS: Two forty year old child adults, who still live with their single parents, find themselves having to share a room because their parents marry, we see that they are bound to have problems. With Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly acting as these two idiots, and the conditions are right for a racous comedy. This comedy looks like a must see for a good time this year.

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Heavy pot smoker Dale Denton in a stroke of bad luck, has seen a bad police officer, and a big time dealer, commit a killing. They see him witness the crime. Sure that he has been spotted, he drops his joint of pineapple express, and takes off. This joint is such a unique type of weed, that the bad guys can. The game is on, as Dale and his dealer Saul are on the run.

HAMLET 2: Failed actor Mr. Marshz now finds himself teaching high school theatre to bored and unmotivated kids. The school loses a building due to destruction, so the administration decides the theatre progam must be eliminated. Fully inspired, he hopes to keep the school from dropping his classes by producing Hamlet 2, a new version of the classic, which he writes himself.

FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Down in the dumps after an undesired break up with long time girlfriend Sarah, a TV sitcom actress, Peter finally plans to take a vacation to a Hawaiian resort to start anew and forget about Sarah. As one might expect, upon checking into the resort, he runs into the woman who just left him and her new boyfriend, who has it all. This sets up as a thoughtful romantic comedy.

One great tip I learnt while travelling in China on sleeper transport is never to take the bottom bunk. The reason for this is that on many overnight trains and buses the people like to dispose of their rubbish on the floor of the bus or train. This means that if you are sleeping on the bottom bed you are likely to have rubbish thrown down past you during the trip. This is not that bad to deal with but another past time is eating nuts and spitting out the seed casings on the floor, this along with spitting makes the bottom bunk an interesting experience. Waking up to find a pile of rubbish and spit on the floor by your bed doesn’t exactly help either.

Laos

Laos is an extremely beautiful although still primitive country to visit and local transport from villages is normally done on converted trucks, with benches in the back for customers to sit on. Try to avoid travelling on this mode of transport when coming or passing through fishing villages heading to the more centrally located towns, especially in the mornings. The reason is because the villagers tend to take their produce which is mainly fish, including dried fish to sell in the towns. This can make for a very unpleasant experience as the truck is never really considered to be full and sitting next to baskets of fresh and dried fish which stinks for hours is enough to test the stomach of any person.

Cambodia

When travelling in Cambodia, locals like to take Taxis as they are quicker than the buses and manage to avoid the potholes better. The only problem with this is that what the West considers being a normal five door car with two seats in the front and three in the back is considered in Cambodia to hold seven or sometimes eight people. The Cambodians will fit four in the back and three or sometimes even four in the front. If a taxi holds eight people then there would be four in the back and two in the front passenger’s seat a passenger in the driver’s seat, the driver would then be squashed up to the passenger, leaning against him to hold the wheel with his feet at an angle to reach the pedals. This would be impossible in a manual car but some how it is managed in an automatic. Travelling like this is extremely dangerous and not recommended.

There is a general place where Taxis depart from and they don’t depart till they are full. A way to get around this is to buy two or even three seats, effectively meaning you travel in more comfort and safety as this means there would be less people in the Taxi.

The sheer scale and vastness of these natural caves simply can’t be imagined so jump in your hire car and experience this wonder for yourself.

The enormous rock formations are stunning and the caves have unique acoustic properties which can’t be re-produced. On certain dates concerts and music festivals are held within the caves. Because they maintain a very low temperature it’s the perfect place to see a beautifully eerie performance in complete comfort.

After all of this history and culture one of the best ways to keep the children entertained is to take them to the relatively new Terra Mitica theme park. Built in 2000 the park promises to take you back in time as you adventure through any one of their 5 areas. Divided into Ancient Egypt, Rome, Iberia, Greece and the Islands each has its own theme and rides based around these ancient cultures of the area. Think Alton towers with a cultural twist but definitely with out the bad weather.
